Tofino, Vancouver Island, Canada
Tofino has some of the most diverse fishing options in all of BC including Spot Prawns and crab in the fjords, salmon, halibut and lingcod in the nearshore waters and Albacore Tuna and Sablefish (Blackcod) farther offshore. Whether it is offshore on the rich feeding grounds of the continental shelf or amongst the many stunning islands of Clayoquot Sound, there are always fish to be found in the Tofino area. Offshore, the Portland tack is one of the most consistent locations on the coast. Here ocean currents concentrate bait fish along a lengthy drop off, enticing migrating salmon to stop and feed. Only a 30-minute ride from town, this location allows us to optimize our fishing effort. Depending on the year, season and weather, we have a fantastic range of similar options at our disposal. In addition to great fishing, wildlife sightings are common and include humpback, grey and orca whales, sea otters, and wolves and bears.
Nowhere on the British Columbia coast can non-fishing members of your party enjoy such a variety of activities while the others take advantage of premium salmon and halibut fishing. Tofino is situated within walking distance or a short drive of Tonquin Beach, Cox Bay, Middle Beach and North and South Chesterman beaches. Pacific Rim National Park is situated only ten minutes south of town and is a great place to experience the northwest coast of Canada at its finest. Whether you enjoy a sunset with friends, taking a surf lesson, checking out a tide pool with the kids, or just relaxing in the sun, the west coast is a great place to be.
